About the label
La Sposa Berlinese aim to break the conventional bridalwear mold by offering elegant, fashion forward pieces at realistic price point for modern brides.
Fairness and quality are at core of La Sposa Berlinese production. The collections are designed and sampled by me, Maki, the founder of La Sposa Berlinese at the Berlin studio.
With my years of working as a pattern maker and sample maker, I take pride in beautiful fit and silhouette.
Our pieces are produced in Germany and materials are sourced from European and Japanese suppliers.
As the business grows, I am planning to provide training program for fashion students to pass down the couture techniques I have learnt over the years in my career.
About the founder
I'm a Japanese-born, British alternative bridal wear designer based in Kreuzberg, Berlin.
I have started my own bridal wear label "La Sposa berlinese" with a vision to offer modern brides bridal wear that is neither traditional nor boho but classical and romantic in a fashion-forward way.
I adored fashion since an early age and I had my heart set on becoming a fashion designer. At age 16, I moved to London to study fashion at London College of Fashion, then to Central Saint Martins.
I have worked for various high-end fashion brands such as Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood and David Koma in London as a pattern cutter and sample maker for 8 years. My work has been on the catwalks at London, NY and Paris fashion week and worn by celebrities for events and TV appearances.
After living in London for 21 years, in 2016 I moved to Berlin to live with the love of my life and to start my own bridal wear label "La Sposa Berlinese".
